I don’t know that I agree with this statement. Yes, a smile is amazing and can work wonders, but the best makeup is probably in a skinny tube that has a brush that screws into the top, called mascara. I think a better phrase would be “A smile is the best accessory.” Unless you consider some beaded bracelets as the best accessory, then it could be a toss up! In all seriousness, I do think a smile goes a long way. It goes a long way when you simply smile at a stranger, or smile at a friend. Sometimes people just need a hug! Why be bitchy?! Does that help anyone?! or anything?! Does it ever make a situation better? It doesn’t mean that you should be a pushover, but there is always a tactful and nice way to handle something. I have not mastered the being tactful part…I’m known for putting my foot in my mouth (I’m thinking of one “Bahahahaha” moment that will remain unmentioned), but I truly try to face life with a smile and to be nice. Life is more fun being happy! It is also a prettier place with mascara. I say, slap some mascara on your face (and maybe some more makeup) and a smile and head on out the door!
I finished my 5th round of chemo Friday night, and I also traveled to Birmingham for a Saturday morning baby shower. I got there Friday night, got to spend time with one of my best friends and then got to see lots of my sorority sisters and celebrate a new Pi Phi suitor that is yet to be born. Mike and I debated whether or not I should make the trip over since the last day or 2 and the following day of my 14 day cycle is typically the worst, but I didn’t want to sit at home because I MIGHT feel bad. This is where this whole med thing gets annoying. Am I tolerating chemo well? Yes! So well! Is it annoying that I know I may feel badly because of the chemo? Yes! So annoying! I just want to live my life as normal and not let these darn tumors control what I want to do. I want to drive to Birmingham to see my friends! So you know what?! I did! And I was fine! Friends are good medicine, and they make you smile…hence your best accessory. More than likely you will see me with multiple accessories on at all times…earrings (hate when I forget them), wedding rings, right hand ring, bracelets (probably beaded and probably at least 3 of them), and a smile. I’d also like to point out that when people smile, their eyes usually light up which means there should be a layer of mascara on those things to brighten those eyeballs up a bit! This is why mascara is the best makeup.
